Joe Thompson, Chairman of the Board

Joe Thompson

Graduating as a professional engineer from Clarkson University in 1956, Mr. Thompson joined the PCL family of companies in 1967 as a project manager, later becoming President and Chief Executive Officer, and ultimately Chairman in 1997.   He was instrumental in founding the Merit Contractors Association in Alberta, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Construction Association for eight years, and served as Chairman of the Regina Construction Association.   Mr. Thompson is an active supporter of Alberta technology firms, serving on numerous boards.

Dr. Bryun Sigfstead, Director

Bryun Sigfstead

Bryun is currently in active orthodontic practice in Sherwood Park, Alberta and Lloydminster, Alberta. He is a past- president of the Canadian Dental Association and the Alberta Dental Association. He is also a past-president of the University of Alberta Alumni Association and past member of the University of Alberta Senate. At the present time he sits on the national board of Young Life Canada. He obtained his undergraduate education, his professional degree and specialty degree from the University of Alberta.

Douglas Peterson, Director

Doug Peterson

Douglas has acted as in-house corporate counsel for Eleven since 1998. He currently sits as a director and general counsel for several environmental, technology, and other companies. He has vast experience in international legal and regulatory matters, including commercial law, intellectual property law, international finance, and international trade. His experience also covers day-to-day legal affairs such as domestic and international contracts, litigation, employment agreements, and financial and legal restructuring. He is also an instructor at both the School of Business and the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta where he lectures on international law, international business transactions, business law, corporate law, international business, and Asia-Pacific Rim law.

John Sobota, CEO, Director

John Sobota

Mr. Sobota has an Electrical Engineering degree and an MBA from the University of Alberta and is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta.   Mr. Sobota is cofounder of Eleven, has 19 years of product development experience, is a guest lecturer at the University of Alberta in product development, and has over 20 patent/design patent filings to his credit.

Colin Broughton, Chief Scientist

Colin Broughton

Mr. Broughton founded two fabless semiconductor companies prior to joining Eleven.   He has extensive experience in real-time systems, and is a proponent of the guaranteed-service methodology which was adopted for the XInC family of baseband processors.   He is an expert in high-performance, power-efficient computing.   His background as a compiler writer was excellent preparation for his work on novel instruction-set architectures.   Eleven also benefits from Mr. Broughton's knowledge of hearing physiology, psychoacoustics, and related digital signal processing techniques.

Rex Whitehead, Director of Sales - North America

Rex Whitehead

Rex is a 30-year veteran of the consumer electronics industry, holding roles as an upper management director and VP for leading international companies among which are Pioneer Electronics and Rockford Corporation. Taking more than 20 brands to the next level during his career, Rex's focus is on sales/marketing (both domestic and international), business strategy and planning, competitive landscape assessment and product development. This has allowed him to garner high level business relationships across North America and in more than 30 countries.

Sam Cristall, Director of Research and Development

Sam Cristall

Sam Cristall is an avid software developer who specializes in embedded systems. He has an Electrical Engineering degree in Nanotechnology from the University of Alberta and over 10 years of programming experience. Sam currently serves as Eleven's Director of Research and Development.

Hilda Huang, Controller and Director, Operations

Hilda Huang

Hilda Huang achieved a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in China and an Accounting Diploma in Canada. Before joining Eleven, Hilda worked for 10 years as a professional accountant at a China-based manufacturer. Hilda currently serves as both Eleven's Financial Controller and Director, Operations. She excels at managing business processes, controlling product costs, forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting.
